Do it yourself self forgivenss exercises or DIY techniques can be useful for releasing trauma. DIY self forgiveness exercises have their role and have a significant similarity with New Decision Therapy. In this video, Dr. Artour Rakhimov and Lynn compare DIY techniques to New Decision Therapy. Apart from the techniques previously mentioned to release trauma, people can use do it yourself methods. How do these techniques compare to New Decision Therapy? There are other techniques that are helping people and making a difference. Sometimes it just requires a person to try something new and experience different avenues. They can just figure out what is a good match for them specifically. What do they feel drawn to or what do they resonate with? If you feel something is forced on you, you might not get the benefit of the technique anyway.
Lynn has great respect for the work of Byron Katie. She wrote a book titled Loving What Is. Sometimes in terms of DIY and if someone is not ready for New Decision Therapy, Lynn recommends to go to Byron Katie’s website and have a look at Loving What Is. Also, have a look at her YouTube videos and try out some of her inquiry processes. She has four specific questions to ask yourself and then you turn the whole thing around. It helps very much and it is similar to New Decision Therapy because in NDT you also turn it around. Ultimately, what you are upset with someone else is what you are upset with yourself. That is what NDT calls the tragic flaw. The thing that you think you need from everyone else you are also denying yourself. Also, the thing that you are getting from others and you want it to stop and you want them to change is the very same thing you are inflicting on yourself without realizing it. That is the whole hidden behaviour that we uncover in NDT.
New Decision Therapy helps to get rid of 3 layers of psychological trauma. It helps you to see how to forgive past hurts. Also, NDT includes a self forgiveness exercise. A session of this forgiveness technique lasts around 60 to 80 minutes. NDT helps to release emotional traumas people might not have remembered, but they still have some limiting effects on his or her present life. Additional tools used by this healing therapy include radical forgiveness and the use of a mirror for testing eyes and for the forgiveness procedure.
This forgiveness technique permits a person with trauma to experience increasing positive emotions and to have over 20 seconds for the body-oxygen test. This testifies about chronic over-breathing or hyperventilation that is present in 90 % of modern people. Having over 20 seconds for the body-oxygen test allows people to be more resilient to new stress and decrease the negative effects of trauma.
