A Powerful Fast Approach to Releasing Deep Emotional Trauma and Restoring Freedom
New Decision Therapy (NDT) is a highly focused approach to emotional healing developed by Dr. Kandis Blakely. Its purpose is to identify the specific emotional experience at the root of a problem and release the unresolved feelings, decisions, and emotional patterns connected with that experience.
Unlike approaches that may require a person to talk repeatedly about painful events for months or years, New Decision Therapy works directly with the emotional experience underlying the problem. The process combines body-based assessment, muscle testing, emotional identification, forgiveness, understanding, letting go, and conscious new decision-making.
In my professional experience, New Decision Therapy is one of the most powerful and rapid approaches available for resolving deeply held emotional trauma. I have personally observed profound changes in people who have carried emotional difficulties for many years. In appropriately selected cases, I consider a very high level of trauma resolution to be achievable, sometimes within a remarkably short period of time (e.g., 60-90 minutes).
My New Decision Therapy training and credentials
I received advanced training in New Decision Therapy from three remarkable women who were leading teachers and practitioners of this approach: Karen Mason of Cobourg, Ontario, Canada; Lynn Himmelman from Toronto; and Dr. Kandis Blakely, the founder and creator of New Decision Therapy. I was trained at the trainer-of-practitioners level, giving me the opportunity to learn the approach directly from highly experienced NDT teachers and practitioners and to develop the ability to train practitioners in the method. I also received training in Kantillation, an additional method associated with NDT training.
What New Decision Therapy addresses
New Decision Therapy is designed to identify and resolve the specific emotional experiences that continue to affect a person’s present life:
– Male-left sexual trauma
– Rape and all forms of abuse by parents, care-takers, relatives, strangers, authority figures, and others
– Betrayal and loss of trust
– Anger connected with past experiences
– Guilt and regret
– Grief and unresolved emotional loss
– Relationship trauma
– Childhood emotional trauma
– Emotional wounds connected with separation, divorce, or the ending of relationships
– Repeated emotional patterns originating in earlier experiences
– Emotional problems that have persisted despite years of talking about them.
The central objective is to find the specific emotional experience that continues to hold the greatest unresolved charge and work directly with it.
A person may believe that she already knows what caused her problem, yet the deepest emotional experience may be something quite different. NDT provides a structured method for identifying this underlying experience rather than relying exclusively on conscious recollection or intellectual analysis.
A precise and individualized process
One of the distinctive features of New Decision Therapy is its use of muscle testing and specific body points as part of the assessment.
Within the NDT system, the practitioner assesses physical responses associated with the emotional material being addressed. This creates a practical before-and-after method of evaluating the particular emotional issue being worked on.
The process seeks to identify not merely a general period of suffering but a specific emotional turning point. This may include determining who was involved, what the person wanted or needed from that individual, and the moment when she realized that she was not going to receive it.
Once the relevant experience has been identified, the practitioner guides the client through the emotional clearing process. This includes forgiveness, understanding, letting go, love and acceptance, and ultimately making a conscious decision to move forward with life.
NDT is designed to locate that specific emotional wound and address it directly.
Releasing the emotional burden
The purpose of NDT is not to erase history or pretend that a painful event never occurred. The purpose is to remove the emotional burden that continues to connect a person to that event.
Forgiveness in NDT does not mean approving harmful behavior or declaring that something painful was acceptable. It means becoming free from the emotional imprisonment created by the experience.
As anger, guilt, regret, fear, and emotional attachment are released, the person can begin to experience herself differently. She can stop allowing the past to dictate her relationships, self-image, decisions, and future.
The process ultimately moves toward a conscious choice to live—to become healthier, happier, freer, and more fully engaged with life.
A powerful approach for male-left sexual trauma
Male-left sexual trauma deserves particular attention because it can create a very unusual combination of emotional reactions.
A woman may experience intense attachment to the man who left, even when the relationship itself was brief. She may repeatedly ask herself why he left, whether she did something wrong, whether she was not attractive enough, or whether the sexual experience meant something completely different to him.
These questions can become deeply connected with feelings of rejection, shame, anger, grief, abandonment, and loss of self-worth.
The emotional experience may then influence future relationships long after the original event.
New Decision Therapy provides a direct way of working with the unresolved emotional experience rather than spending years analyzing the circumstances surrounding it.
In my experience, this focused approach gives women a genuine opportunity to break the emotional connection with the past and restore their ability to live with greater freedom, confidence, and grace.
Individual sessions
New Decision Therapy is conducted individually, on a one-to-one basis.
A single session can produce a profound emotional shift, and I offer individual NDT sessions for people who want to address a specific unresolved experience. Some people require additional sessions because they have several significant traumatic or emotionally important experiences from different periods of life.
The NDT assessment can also indicate that another unresolved experience should be addressed before the issue that originally brought the person to therapy. In such cases, resolving the earlier or more relevant experience first can prepare the way for addressing the original problem.
A typical session lasts approximately 60–90 minutes.
Sessions can traditionally be conducted with the practitioner physically present. I also work with clients remotely through Internet communication, making this approach available internationally.
Session fees: available upon request.
My work with clients throughout Europe, North America and other countries/locations
Depending on where I am located in Europe and where the client is located, we can arrange an in-person session by having either the client or myself travel to a mutually convenient location. When this is not practical, sessions can also be conducted remotely through Internet communication.
