This change in diet (having vegetables or plant oils instead of natural animal fats), together with having the all-year-around abundance of raw fruits and vegetables (that we have now), can be the main single reason why Dr. K. P. Buteyko was able to train many Siberian doctors up to 60-90 s CP, and some up to 2-3 min CP, in the 1960s, while I could not discover a single practitioner with 60+ s morning CP trained by Dr. Buteyko in the 1980s or any time later, until his death in 2003. The ordinary diet in the past was much closer to modern PKD (paleo keto diet) developed by Paleomedicina (a Hungarian group of doctors and Ph. D. researchers headed by Dr. Zsófia Clemens).
For about 15 years I have been teaching to our students that the best oils to use are coconut oil, olive oil, and butter. Sorry, I was wrong. This has to be changed:
Note. Many of our current NormalBreathing students made this dramatic change in their diet: they switched from eating plant oils (or vegetable oils) to animal fats. This resulted in a quick increase in energy levels. Apart from increased intestinal permeability (or worsened leaky gut syndrome), while nearly all people have tight junctions in the GI tract that are not tight and soiling (the need for a toilet paper), plant oils likely influence synthesis of brown fat in human adipose tissues.
Yesterday I was at a local butcher shop and bought a huge block (about 0.5kg) of pure beef tallow (animal fat from grass-fed cows). The old woman from the shop gave me the block and said, “This is what we ate when I was young…. before olive oil appeared….” They even did not have it on display since almost nobody buys it now and it was cheaper than butter and about 5-10 times cheaper than their steaks, beef cuts, etc…

It was surely before coconut oil and many other oils (including hemp oil, flaxseed or linseed oil, palm oil, avocado oil, and many others) appeared. All these artificial oil extracts have chemicals that repel and sometimes kill bugs, insects, birds, and other creatures so that they do not eat plants or seeds…
For example, canola oil, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (see the Table on Page 2 from their Plant Oils Fact Sheet), has the action “kills insects”.
Or have a look at this study published by the Department of Entomology, Texas A&M University: Using Oils as Pesticides.
It makes sense then that such substances are also known as bio-pesticides, and they should have a negative effect on people who already have intestinal permeability or problems with the leaky gut. This relates to over 99% of modern people or all those people who require toilet paper due to soiling during their defecation or bowel elimination.
Olive oil, by the way, often have this bitter taste indicating the presence of such strong chemical action. Even though coconut oil, palm oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil do not have an unpleasant taste, they still contain bio-pesticides.

Thus, for thousands of years, humans ate animal fats and did not have any plant oils in their diet. These days, probably over 99% of all consumed oils are plant oils. That is why PKD (paleolithic ketogenic diet) promoted by Paleomedicina and Dr. Zsófia Clemens) is so effective in the treatment of cancer, diabetes 1 and 2, MS (multiple sclerosis), CFS/ME, and many other conditions.
In my view, not all people require to stop eating plant oils, most do have autoimmunity fueled by intestinal permeability. Hence, one may start a campaign in years to come:
STOP SELF-GENOCIDE BY PLANT OILS
once enough new research studies about the effects of plant oils vs. animal fats on intestinal permeability of normal subjects (and sick people even more) are published.
